Image Santa Cruz International School is an English medium Primary and Secondary school located in the city of Santa Cruz De La Sierra in the eastern lowlands of Bolivia. It was founded in 1992 with the intention of providing an English medium education of an internationally recognized standard to residents of the city.
The concept of an international school is relatively new in Latin America. Many cities in the region have their German, American, British or French schools. SCIS uses an international curriculum leading towards examinations at secondary level specifically designed for schools throughout the world by an organization known as Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). These examinations are used in over 70 countries worldwide.
Students who complete our program successfully also receive a Bolivian High School Diploma (Bachilerato Boliviano).

About 80% of our students are Bolivian nationals with the remainder coming from a variety of countries in Latin America, North America, Europe and Asia. Among our teaching staff we have professionals from the United States, Britain, Holland, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Ireland, Denmark, Brazil and Bolivia. The language of instruction for all subjects is English but students are also taught Spanish for one period each day from first grade onwards.

Children are accepted into our Nursery program from the age of three and for our Pre Kinder at four. Classes for these two groups finish at midday. Students from Kinder through 5th Grade attend school until 2:30pm. From 6th to 12th grades regular classes run until 3:00pm. Many students also choose to stay on for extra curricular activities including, horse-riding, karate, ballet, tennis, theatre, track and field plus other sports.
