While more than 80% of our students are Bolivians, the remainder is drawn from other Latin American countries, Europe, Asia and North America. SCIS is a small school with a total capacity of 400 students. The policy of the school is to maintain this capacity, thus ensuring smaller classes. Students can join our Nidito program. Many students begin their school career in Pre Kinder at four years of age. From the beginning, the language of instruction is English. Our Kindergarten students, aged five, attend school for a full day for the first time. Elementary students in First Grade begin receiving one period per day of Spanish. Spanish instruction continues throughout their stay at SCIS. Our Middle and High School, grades 6 through 12, has a capacity of 150 students. At secondary level our students are taught English Language and Literature, Spanish Language and Literature, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, World History, Geography, Computer Science and Information Technology, Art, Music and Physical Education. Our high school students also comply with subjects required for the Bolivian High School Diploma. The small size of our Secondary school means that all students are obliged to follow a relatively rigid program with very limited choice. We feel that this disadvantage is more than compensated for by the excellent discipline, personalized pastoral care and intimate family atmosphere made possible by our compactness. |
